The Village of Alberta Beach is set on the shores of Lac Ste. Anne and approximately 60km West of Edmonton and is primarily used for recreation and over the years has become a popular resort to visit. Alberta Beach has a combination of permanent and summer residents. On a busy summer weekend can attract 3000 or more visitors to the sandy beach and shallow waters providing fun for all ages.

In 1912 the Canadian Northern Railway built its Edmonton–Vancouver line through what is now Alberta Beach. It brought its employees out for company picnics and holidays. By 1920 the area had incorporated as a summer village built a dance pavilion, a large wooden pier, and several cabins. Other companies such as Marshall Wells and Woodward's then began to bring their employees out for the same relaxing and beautiful atmosphere.

There was such a demand for this atmosphere that the Moonlight Express was started. The railway picked people up in Edmonton on Saturday mornings, took them to Alberta Beach, then picked them up Sunday night to take them back to Edmonton.

Soon people began purchasing and building their own cabins and small businesses. On January 1, 1999, the summer village of Alberta Beach became a village.

In 2006, Alberta Beach had a population of 884 living in 731 dwellings, a 16% increase from 2001. The community has an area of 1.98 km2 (0.76 sq mi) and a population density of 446.3 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Location: About 30 minutes drive from Edmonton's west end.
Education: Currently the K - 8, Grasmere School at Alberta Beach is bussing students from the neighbourhood. High School at Onoway is bussing 9 - 12 students from Alberta Beach and the surrounding communities.
Emergency Services: Fire service and Ambulance Service from Alberta Beach, Onoway or Stony Plain; Police service provided by RCMP at Stony Plain and special constable services at Alberta Beach. 
Recreation : Plenty of summer and winter games and activities available at Alberta Beach, Wabamun, Onoway, Stony Plain and Spruce Grove.
Lac Ste Anne is fit for water sports, fishing and boating in summer, skating, cross country skiing and ice fishing in winter. Alberta Beach Golf Course is an 18 hole par 72 world class Golf Course located in the village of Alberta Beach.
Retail : There are plenty of retail outlets in Alberta Beach, Onoway, Stony Plain and Spruce Grove. Moreover, Edmonton and St. Albert are less than an hour away,
The number of people moving into the Edmonton Region is on the rise. The latest census done by the city of Edmonton shows that 45,000 people have moved into the City of Edmonton in the last three years. Albertans are becoming more prosperous, leading to an increased demand for quality neighbourhoods. The Proposed subdivision will be a welcome addition to the community of Alberta Beach and County of Lac Ste Anne.
